University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks a Coordinator of Civic Engagement and Student Voting for the Student Engagement and Programming (SEP) department in The Office of Student Affairs (SAF). The Coordinator will join one of the largest online institutions in the world, serving a global student population of working adults, military personnel, and other students who are achieving their academic goals through UMGC's innovative educational options.

The Civic Engagement and Student Voting Coordinator, under the supervision of Director of Student Engagement, will assist with the coordination and implementation of programming to increase student voter registration and to provide opportunities for students to participate in civic engagement activities. Since UMGC students are located around the world, a majority of the programming is held virtually.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and implement an annual plan to educate students on the electoral process and to increase student voter registration
  • Implement and manage a civic engagement and student voting communication plan using outreach campaigns, social media, the university website, and other channels in partnership with the communications office and marketing to drive student engagement
  • Maintain records and prepare reports for university administrators and external partners to ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop civic engagement programming for students, including recognizing US Constitution Day and other civic engagement related days
  • Assist Director of Student Engagement and the department with projects and administrative tasks as needed

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum of one-year of experience in student development, support, or success initiatives. 
  • Qualified candidates must possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, must be capable of developing and following action plans, prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, and have ability to work independently. 
  • Candidates should have a passion for working with students and should have creative and innovative ideas for enhancing the student experience of an adult non-local student population.
  • Candidates must have strong computer skills.
