The Senior Graphic Art designer performs all the basic functions in areas of publications, advertising, and web/social media design development, assisting in the coordination of all projects. Reporting directly to the appropriate manager in the respective region, the senior graphic art designer must adhere to and promote global brand standards. Additionally, the senior graphic art designer contributes to the production of all major printed pieces, including promotion items and publications such as the commencement program, overseas undergraduate and graduate catalogs, schedule of classes, and more.   

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Execute all design projects from conceptualization through production, presenting concepts to clients

  • Assume responsibility for major publication projects to include annual commencement program and catalogs

  • Coordinate overseas projects and maintain brand asset repository

  • Establish project priorities and coordinate production schedules, communicating the status to the marketing team and other clients

  • Assist the design team to obtain bids, maintain cost control, and coordinate projects with outside vendors and printers, attending press checks and coordinating photography/illustration needs

  • Create, package, and transmit ads

  • Coordinate with staff globally to create communications that are results-oriented

  • Leverage best practices by medium and be a thought leader and contributor to global brand standards

  • Monitor shared server and files for transmission and worldwide document sharing and assist with the creative development of the University division's website and other digital resources

  • Other job-related duties as assigned
     

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Leads and directs the design and production of visual and audio materials and media used for advertising, broadcast, and web communications

  • Oversees creation of art, photo, video, and layout design

  • Assume duties of the creative design manager in their absence, when appropriate
     

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign degree equivalent in graphic design or related field

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in conceptualizing, designing, and producing a wide variety of projects, including marketing collateral, publications, advertising, and online communications

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Animate, and after Effects) and Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to develop design strategies that convey a strong institutional identity and are effective in recruiting and retaining adult students

  • Ability to lead projects and develop management strategies for successful creative designs for local and more global needs

  • Excellent administrative, professional, and interpersonal skills

  • Efficient, focused, well organized, and high attention to detail

  • Ability to adapt to changing short-term priorities while consistently supporting and contributing to the achievement of long-term goals

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
     

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in conceptualizing, designing, and producing a wide variety of projects, including marketing collateral, publications, advertising, and online communications

  • Experience in coordinating major projects and working in a multicultural environment

  • Knowledge of the University and the Office of Marketing and Communications operations
