Student Services Coordinator

Overseas Contingent III, 100%-Time, Grade 003

The Student Service Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Director, Student Services and Financial Aid. Each coordinator provides subject matter expertise for his/her area of specialization while also being cross-trained to provide service in each specialized area of student services (admissions, enrollments, military portals, transcripts, grades, records, financial aid, veteran's affairs and other areas as needed). The Student Services Coordinator provides training, support, and policy enforcement oversight, and implements strategies for increased operational efficiencies, customer satisfaction, and positive stakeholder relationships.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop and maintain training and certification programs for his/her area of specialization and provide training for Military Education Coordinators and staff as needed

  • Provide troubleshooting and operational support to field staff (Military Education Coordinators and Academic Advisors) in all area of student services (admissions, enrollments, military portals, transcripts, grades, records, financial aid, veteran's affairs)

  • Liaison for his/her area of specialization with the UMGC overseas and stateside regions

  • Work collaboratively to establish best practices and assist with identification of issues, problems, and procedures

  • Monitor the area of specialization to ensure compliance with UMGC contract requirements and university guidelines

  • Plan, coordinate and organize student outreach activities

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Progress towards a bachelor's degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or equivalent

  • Previous office experience and working in a team environment

  • Strong oral and written communication skills 

  • Excellent customer service skills and commitment to customer service

  • Ability to work effectively in a self-directed, team-based work environment

  • Ability to understand and apply team quality and performance standards 

  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or equivalent

  • Experience in training and web conferences

Who May Apply - Current UMGC employees and Local applicants with individual logistical support (ILS) only - no relocation or UMGC ILS will be provided. Applicants must already have and be able to maintain ILS, meaning that they must possess a U.S. military ID card and SOFA card from an external source, as this position does not offer ILS. For employment eligibility purposes, applicant must qualify for ILS as described in USAREUR Regulation 600-700, Section III, 7-13. Criteria under which applicants qualify for ILS are: must serve the US Forces exclusively; are not stateless persons; are nationals of a NATO state, excluding the host nation; are not ordinarily resident in the host nation. Must have a valid passport.
