Assistant Director, Communications IA

The Assistant Director, Communications position is dedicated to supporting the engagement of the university community developing creative solutions to meet the email and online communication business needs for alumni relations, development, and the overall success of the university.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Responsible for overarching email strategy for the Office of Institutional Advancement including planning, creating, and evaluating.
  • Develops and implements targeted email campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and participation from constituents.
  • Assists strategy execution for the alumni website and social media channels.
  • Ensures content and writing styles adapt in email communications to reach different target audiences to maximize established engagement and participation objectives for alumni relations and development.
  • Responsible for editorial strategy and deployment of monthly Alumni News eNewsletters; and four (4) quarterly benefit emails
  • Assists development and execution of email and web strategy supporting Institutional Advancement events targeting students, alumni, donors.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, serving as primary liaison for scheduling of email communications to alumni community as part of university email editorial planning.
  • Analyze and report on email metrics, including open and click rates, audience behavior, conversion rates and engagement of content monthly.
  • Supervise and lead a team member responsible for daily activity of the alumni website, and UMGC's alumni Facebook, Linked-In, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.
  • Supervise and lead a team member responsible for alumni enrollment and alumni fundraising communications across email, social media, video, and print.
  • Supervise vendors and contractors executing alumni social media engagement strategy, ensuring strong global brand and identity standards.
  • Conducts research to make recommendations to leadership on new email trends to better deliver relevant content to constituencies.
  • Proposes additions and changes to improve user email experience and increase efficiencies in support of established department goals.
  • Proofing of internal and external department presentations and other materials as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in communications, public relations, marketing, or related area. 
  • A minimum of five years of related communications experience.
  • Evidence of excellent analytical, written/verbal communication skills required. Individuals must exhibit a high level of comfort and previous work with email templates and digital marketing platforms.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working in alumni relations or development as well as experience working with online/virtual platforms is preferred.
  • Experience in graphic design and basic HTML skills, and experience with CRM's such as SalesForce highly desired.

Hiring Range:

$72,000.00 - $82,000.00
