Student Outreach Specialist (Team Associate I)

Contingent II, Non-Exempt, Full-Time, Pay Grade 7

Location: Remote

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks a Team Associate I in the Office of Student Affairs.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Receives and directs incoming calls and visitors. Responds to general inquiries requiring research or interpretation of relevant departmental policies and procedures. Makes referrals to other team members or teams as appropriate.

  • Maintains manual and automated record-keeping and filing systems. Codes, sorts, processes, and files the full range of team documents and materials. Assembles, enters, edits, and retrieves data and records.

  • Operates office equipment such as multi-line telephones, personal computers, typewriters, facsimile machines, and photocopiers.

  • Prepares worksheets, tables, correspondence, and standard reports. Participates in the preparation and review of statistical and other reports for completeness and accuracy.

  • Identifies and resolves clerical process problems impacting productivity and quality. Participates in developing new or revised processes.

  • Assists in planning and coordinating team clerical work. Coordinates work flow of assigned clerical tasks or function.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE: Three years in clerical work.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

General knowledge of team office practices, procedures and equipment; of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Skill in independently performing a broad range of team clerical and operational tasks including computer data entry, basic arithmetic calculations and compilation of statistical data; completion of standard forms, creation and maintenance of paper and computer files, preparation of standard reports and data summaries, and responding to requests for general information. Skill in effective telephone usage. Ability to work effectively in a self-directed team-based work environment; to understand and apply team quality and performance standards. Ability to plan and independently perform specialized clerical tasks; operate all team office equipment; to communicate both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written procedures and processes; to establish and maintain effective work relationships both within and outside the team; to operate personal computers and software; to understand and interpret department policies and procedures; to provide guidance and instruction to Team Assistants.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR REMOTE ROLE:

  • Home worksite furniture and equipment shall be provided by the Candidate 

  • UMGC will provide necessary office supplies, a laptop, monitor and headset 

  • Network communication to non-public UMGC online information technology services and data shall be made only through the use of the UMGC Virtual Private Network (VPN) to ensure data is transmitted through encrypted channels and proper authentication 

  • All computing equipment that is used, whether purchased by UMGC or the individual, must be connected to broadband internet through an Ethernet connection

  • ·All computing equipment that is used must be connected to broadband internet with upload and download speeds of at least 25MBPS.  You must also hardwire your laptop to the router through an Ethernet connection

  • Retirement Stipend:  Contingent II employees receive a retirement stipend equal to 7.25 percent of their base salary and are eligible to contribute to a supplemental retirement account (SRA).

  • Supplemental Retirement Plans: include 401(k), 403(b), 457(b), and various Roth options. The university does not provide subsidies or matching funds.

  • Tuition Remission:  CII employees are eligible immediately for Tuition Remission at UMGC or at University of Maryland College Park.  Spouses and dependent children are eligible for undergraduate tuition remission after two years of service. NOTE: For part-time employees (at least 50 percent of the time), tuition remission benefits are prorated.

$44,053.00 - $48,000.00
