Summary:

The Director of Student Information Systems (SIS) is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and operational oversight of the university's SIS platforms, with a particular focus on PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. This role ensures the successful delivery of SIS initiatives that support UMGC's academic, administrative, and student service functions. The Director will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement across enterprise SIS systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic planning, implementation, and lifecycle management of SIS initiatives, with emphasis on PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.

  • Oversee system upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and cloud migration efforts in alignment with UMGC's institutional priorities.

  • Collaborate with academic and administrative units to understand business needs and translate them into SIS solutions.

  • Manage technical teams including developers, database administrators, analysts, and third-party consultants.

  • Ensure timely delivery of PeopleTools updates, PUM Image applications, and system patches with minimal operational disruption.

  • Drive data integrity, system performance, and automation initiatives that improve the student and staff user experience.

  • Establish and maintain compliance with data privacy, security, and accessibility standards applicable to higher education.

  • Serve as a technical and strategic liaison between UMGC leadership, IT teams, and vendors (e.g., Oracle).

  • Provide executive-level reporting on project status, risks, resource utilization, and system health.

  • Stay abreast of PeopleSoft product roadmaps, Oracle support models, and emerging SIS technologies relevant to UMGC's evolving environment.

  • Strategic thinking, customer service, creative problem solving, time management, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and to handle multiple tasks; the ability to use independent judgment and make informed decisions in a timely fashion

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of  an organization; to formulate assessments and propose recommendations in an articulate fashion

  • Support executive level execution of  strategic priorities, and adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment

Education & Experience Requirements:

Experience:

  • Ten (10) years or more of senior level supervisory management and budgeting experience in a higher education and /or information technology environment.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience and experience in project and program management Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities.  The ability to create a product vision, innovate product design, and execute vision to reality.

Hiring Range:

$140,000.00 - $150,000.00
