Learning Resources Consultant

Location: Remote (Occasional Travel to Adelphi, MD Required) Local DMV Preferred

Overview:

The University of Maryland Global Campus seeks a consultant with deep expertise in learning resources, courseware, OER, eBooks, and digital materials to contribute to the establishment of the new Learning Resource Center. Reporting to the AVP of Learning Resources & Access Services, the consultant will collaborate with a cross-functional team to set the foundation for success for the LRC.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in managing learning resources, including OERs, library materials, and vendor resources
  • Expertise in vendor management, contract negotiation, and accessibility standards
  • Expertise in process and workflow documentation and efficiency

Deliverables:

  • An operational plan that outlines the work to be done, phases, timelines, and deliverables
  • Collaborate with LearnerForward to document the student experience and sentiment map on paid and un-paid resource acquisition
  • Audit Current State of Resources: Collaborate with UMGC leaders to create a comprehensive database of all current learning resources
  • Establish processes for vendor management: “preferred vendor” framework, rubric for evaluating, standard procurement language
  • Document current workflows for resource selection, acquisition, and communication
  • Audit of existing bookstore including processes, pros/cons, etc.
  • Establish an escalation process for broken links and resource issues in the classroom

The purpose of this Nonexempt Job Class is to comply with Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations for positions that do not meet the Exempt FLSA test. That is, the position would have been Exempt, but is required to be Nonexempt because the weekly salary does not meet FLSA criteria established for the salary minimum threshold and/or the employee in the position will not be paid on a salary basis.

USE OF THIS JOB CLASS IS RESTRICTED TO POSITIONS AT LESS THAN 100% FTE, CONTINGENT CATEGORY I AND CONTINGENT CATEGORY II, AS DETERMINED BY THE INSTITUTION, WHICH CAN NOT BE ACCOMMODATED IN AN EXISTING EXEMPT STATUS JOB CLASS DUE TO FLSA REGULATIONS.

  • Time Off:  C1s that regularly work over 12 hours per week are eligible for limited sick and safe leave at the rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum accrual of 40 hours in a calendar year.
