Night Monitor
Non-Exempt, Contingent 1, Part-Time, Pay Grade Stateside Contingent 1
Location: Fort Meade/Odenton, MD

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Ensure that quality services are provided to all current and prospective students and instructors at the Fort Meade/Odenton Building
  • Perform general clerical and office management duties in support of the site activities
  • Conduct minor computer troubleshooting to assist instructors
  • Observe activities of UMGC students and staff in the building, document and report any activities to the Assistant Director that are not compliant with UMGC or Education Center rules and policies
  • Ensure that building rules are abided by UMGC Fort Meade/Odenton students and instructors
  • As a Night Monitor you will be directly responsible to the supervisor.  Your duties will include matters stated on your description the supervisor will determine your work schedule. 
  • Renewal of this agreement is solely by execution of a new contract.  Renewal is not guaranteed and the fact that a contract is renewed for any number of subsequent periods is not to be construed as a guarantee of any right to renew by the employee
  • Set up live streaming equipment prior to live-streaming classes, serving as first-level technical support to immediately respond to and troubleshoot live streaming issues, and securing live streaming equipment at the end of live streaming class meetings
  • Ensure classrooms, computer labs, and offices are cleaned and organized
  • Follow opening procedures before classes start and closing procedures after classes end
  • In the event of emergency call 911 or designated emergency services
  • This appointment with UMGC is governed VII 1.40-UC, UMGC Policy on Contingent Status Employment and P-VII 1.40-UC, Procedures for UMGC Policy on Contingent Status Employment.  Nothing in this contract shall supersede any UMGC policy, rule, regulation or applicable State law.  In case of conflicts, the applicable policy or law shall take precedence. 
  • Maintain professionalism, workplace ethics, and etiquette demonstrating respect For others at all times.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Applicants must have a high school diploma
  • Available for late evenings
  • Basic office management, computer and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Successful applicants must be able to pass criminal background check and drug test

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Customer service experience
  • Advanced computer skills, to include Microsoft Excel and Word
