Summary:

The PeopleSoft Techno-Functional Consultant drives the efficiency and effectiveness of our growing SIS team to help them thrive while ensuring best practices. The Consultant works closely with Product Owners, taking business requirements and transforming them into technical specifications, then identifying and configuring technical solutions. As the team's Scrum Master, they are responsible for monitoring and facilitating scrum processes and scrum meetings. They will work closely to increase team efficiency, provide and inspire motivation and advocate for changes that will ensure quality and timeliness, as well as ensure the Definition of Done (DOD) is being followed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work on all project phases of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions including fit/gap, configuration, unit testing and implementation.

  • Drives the technical Discovery process, working with UMGC stakeholders and Product Owners to gather, understand, and define business needs for PeopleSoft. 

  • Provides technical expertise to assist in the refinement of  user stories to support the design and development of PeopleSoft solutions.

  • Identifies solution gaps and analyzes PeopleSoft and downstream impacts of business requirements and makes recommendations for improvements and/or additional requirements.

  • Research PeopleSoft capabilities and evaluate alternative solutions.

  • Presents solution options to Product Owners, evaluating the pros and cons of declarative configuration against code and customization.

  • Provides technical expertise and input to the design, improvement, and overall solution architecture of PeopleSoft solutions.

  • Collaborates with developers to assess and verify that solutions will meet the business requirements.

  • Serves as Scrum Master for the Student Information System (SIS) Enhancement team.

  • Leads/facilitates/participates in daily scrum stand-ups.

  • Leads/facilitates/participates in Agile development sprint planning meetings and Quarterly Planning Sessions for multiple projects.

  • Configures PeopleSoft solutions to deliver out of the box functionality, per business requirements.

  • Mentors & coaches team members in PeopleSoft architecture, best practices, system configuration, upgrades, development, and systems integration.

Skills:

  • Self-motivated and able to work both with the team, and independently while remote.

  • Excellent written, visual (on-camera remote) and verbal communication skills.

  • Solid understanding of PeopleSoft architecture as well as PeopleSoft process defaults and data structures.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous requests, and manage laterally and upwards.

  • Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, translate high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.

  • Able to partner with Product Owners to find out of the box solutions to business needs.  

  • Ability to work on all project phases of a project: Project Preview, Fit/Gap Analysis, Configuration and Testing.

  • Functional skills in PeopleSoft Student Administration/Campus Solutions with a basic understanding of Student Records and Campus Community is a plus.  

  • Strong documentation skills, to include Functional/Technical design documents, user manuals,  issue logs, etc.

Education & Experience Requirements:

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience developing business cases, functional requirements, and business process re-engineering.

  • 5+ years of Techno-Functional experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.

  • 5 years of experience in Higher Education.

  • 3+ years of Peoplesoft development experience.

  • 1+ years of experience utilizing agile PM/requirements tools (Azure DevOps, JIRA, Confluence, Rational, etc.)

Preferred Experience Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Certifications:

  • One or more relevant Agile certifications (e.g., CSM, SAFe, PMI-ACP)

Hiring Range:

$131,000.00 - $141,600.00
