Location: Hybrid (Onsite presence in Adelphi, MD required at minimum 2-3 days a week)

Summary

The QA Automation Analyst is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of the Brightspace (D2L) learning management system and its integrations with enterprise and third-party platforms such as PeopleSoft (PSFT). This role combines hands-on functional testing with test automation development and close collaboration with cross-functional Agile teams. The analyst supports timely delivery of high-quality releases by designing and executing effective test strategies, maintaining automation suites, and proactively identifying quality risks across configurations, workflows, and integrations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform functional, integration, regression, and automated testing of Brightspace (D2L) configurations, customizations, and system integrations.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using Playwright (preferably with TypeScript) to support regression, smoke, and integration testing.
  • Create and execute comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and test cases aligned with business, academic, and learner workflows.
  • Identify, document, triage, and validate defects, and participate in production issue analysis and resolution.
  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and Scrum teams throughout the Agile lifecycle to provide early quality feedback and mitigate risks.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and apply automation best practices to improve test reliability, efficiency, and maintainability.

Skills

  • Functional, integration, and regression testing of SaaS platforms
  • Test automation development using Playwright and TypeScript
  • Test planning, test case design, and test execution
  • API testing (REST/SOAP), file-based interfaces, and middleware validation
  • Defect tracking and test management using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
  • CI/CD pipeline integration and shift-left testing practices
  • Familiarity with AI/LLM-assisted testing tools and techniques

Education & Experience Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of a proven track record of architecting and maintaining scalable automation frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Expert-level proficiency in validating the Brightspace (D2L) ecosystem, including the end-to-end automation of complex configurations, LTI integrations, custom workflows, and granular role/permission structures.

Certifications:

  • None required.

Preferred Experience Requirements

Experience:

  • Experience in the education or ed-tech domain, including Student Information Systems such as PeopleSoft (PSFT).
  • Experience with integration platforms such as MuleSoft.
  • Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, BlazeMeter).
  • Familiarity with accessibility, usability, or learner-experience testing within LMS platforms.

Certifications:

Relevant QA or test automation certifications are a plus

Hiring Range:

$80,000.00 - $95,000.00
