Senior Experience Designer

Remote (Occasional Travel Might be Required)

The Senior Experience Designer will have the opportunity to directly impact and improve the experiences of students through the digital experience. As a member of the Digital Student Experience team, you are an advocate for students who will address challenges across the student lifecycle, improving the quality of their experience. To achieve this, you will drive discovery, strategy, and solutioning, encouraging a collaborative and creative environment aligned with the strategic initiatives. With a curious mindset, this position drives continuous improvement and student-centered innovations through the product development process. You develop hypotheses, evaluate data, analyze market and competitive trends, test ideas and assumptions, speak with learners, and develop a solution based on evidence and insights. 

To succeed you monitor reports including key results, risks, dependencies, project schedules, and milestone achievements to share with stakeholders and departmental leadership. This position is the business product owner of a portion of the student experience and student-facing technology portfolio and will work closely as a bridge between department leadership and the technology teams.
 

Primary Duties:

Voice of Student: Advocate for students by knowing them, listening to their needs, anticipating their needs by conducting user research and interviews; Strategic thinker that leads cross-functional team to envision future that aligns with strategy and value - 15%

  • Business Product Ownership: Documents initiatives and requirements used for implementation with technology peers; Partner as the liaison between internal stakeholders and AccelerEd or external stakeholders - 15%
  • Discovery, Experimentation, Research: Designs and tests experiments to challenge assumptions and hypotheses; Collaboratively develop a strategy and roadmap that aligns with the overall vision and objectives of the university; Test solutions for desirability, feasibility, viability and value ensuring the highest quality that reflect the university strategy - 15%
  • Product Implementation: Leverages agile principles delivering iterative experience enhancements; Lead product discovery and solutioning including developing change management and implementation plans - 15%
  • Embrace Innovation: Champion innovation by demonstrating and fostering a creative mindset to proactively solve problems and seek opportunities for improvement; Leverage market and competitive research to analyze and identify product innovation opportunities - 15%
  • Deliver Results: Develop key results and track metrics to gather insights to support data-driven decisions; Conduct risk assessments, addressing challenges; Build and support the process of data-drive business case creation; Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills while working in collaborative matrix organization - 25%

Required Education and Experience:

  • 4-year college degree (Computer science, business, or IT preferred)
  • 5 to 7 years of experience within a related field (higher education, product management) and 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Curious, data-driven, product mindset, customer experience, user experience
