Summary:

The role of the Senior IT Asset Manager is to actively manage the hardware and software assets for the organization. This includes creating and maintaining the systems and processes for IT hardware and software inventorying, tracking, reporting, and auditing.  The individual will be responsible for creating a new asset management system and process and for continuous improvements over time.  The Senior IT Asset Manager must be able to assess current practices and develop recommendations to improve procedures for tracking all company assets to ensure quality control throughout the process. This position will report to the Director, Service Center Management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

  • Assess current processes, provide an analysis and present clearly to senior management

  • Understand how various technical tools can be leveraged and integrated as part of an asset management system

  • Establish policies and procedures for tracking the full life cycle of IT hardware and software assets such as laptops, desktops, mobile phones, end-user applications and other devices.

  • Drive toward workflow automation to provide the ability to track all assets at any point in time

  • Drive and recommend process improvements where appropriate

  • Explore opportunities for maximizing or exploiting unused or partially used IT assets to achieve full efficiency and ROI from company resources.

  • Conduct and report software asset reconciliation and audit activities on a timely basis, including financial, licensing, warranty, and maintenance/support contract information.

  • Develop processes and procedures for asset disposal

  • Work with purchasing and the finance teams on all asset tracking and disposal

  • Compare warranties, maintenance agreements, and vendor contracts to assist with asset upkeep, upgrades, repair, and replacement.

  • Investigate equipment or software under consideration to determine ROI and total cost of ownership throughout product lifecycle.

  • Define purchasing recommendations that support business goals, in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. 

  • Monitor and analyze trends in company spending and inventory control in order to make recommendations for the future, and to identify areas for possible savings and/or asset optimization.

  • Perform inventories and usage monitoring of all IT assets and record all findings, changes, physical location, and incidences of support.

  • Research industry best practices and compare against the organization's practices in order to establish benchmarks for managing IT assets.

  • Effectively communicate asset management strategies to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.

  • If possible, standardize equipment to lower total costs.

  • Generate, distribute, and review relevant management reports.

  • Investigate and resolve exceptions and accuracy issues of the CMS repository

Education & Experience Requirements:

Experience:

  • 10+ years of IT Asset Management experience in a large global organization required. 

  • Strong knowledge of asset management processes and procedures required 

  • Excellent inventory and cost-management skills required 

  • Experience with various licensing models, understanding of hardware contracts required 

  • Strong experience in ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow 

  • Strong experience in asset scanning technologies and solutions 

  • Experience in identifying and creating automated workflows 

  • Proven conceptual, problem solving and analytical skills, ability to communicate sound technical advice to clients, managers and technical staff required 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required 

  • Attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to follow established processes. 

  • ITAM-specific skills, such as license management 

  • Solid understanding of Office 365 and collaboration tools 

Preferred Experience Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Certifications:

Certification in one of the following preferred:

  • CHAMP - Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional certification
  • CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager certification)
  • CITAM (Certified IT Asset Manager certification)
  • ITIL v3 Foundations or higher certification

Hiring Range:

$133,900.00 - $145,100.00
