University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) Europe seeks an Assistant Director (AD). The Assistant Director for will report to the Regional Director (RD). The Assistant Director will be responsible for closely collaborating with the Regional Director to coordinate all outreach activities and for providing day-to-day supervision of regional staff members who are expected to provide a world-class customer service experience with each and every student interaction, from initial contact to graduation. The Assistant Director is also responsible for developing and implementing campaigns to ensure that UMGC meets or exceeds goals while analyzing and utilizing data to strategically plan for desired outcomes.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Monitor and evaluate employee productivity and performance through various channels, including observations in employee's environment as it pertains to customer service and knowledge of the military programs.

  • Create and evaluate statistics, while using various reporting tools available.

  • Supervise and direct the day-to-day operations of all military locations in the Assigned Region.

  • Collaborate with the Director and make recommendations for individual and team training needs, opportunities, and business process improvements to ensure that department service levels and quality assurance standards are met.

  • Develop and implement campaigns in response to military outreach and requirements.

  • Remain abreast of policies and practices as it relates to military tuition assistance, veteran benefits, National Test Center policies, local community regulations and other current topics as they relate to regional operations.

  • May provide backup office coverage as needed by filling in gaps for Program Coordinators, and Program and National Test Center Coordinators.

  • Some evening, weekend hours and traveling to provide office coverage and staff oversight will be required.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor's Degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign degree equivalent.

  • Minimum of one year of experience managing and supervising others in a higher education or customer service support environment.

  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills for both one-on-one interactions and group presentations.

  • Strong leadership and management skills.

  • A proactive problem-solver.

  • Ability to work with diverse populations.

  • Possess a valid local military driver's license.

  • Familiarity with military lifestyle.

  • Must be willing to be placed at any UMGC Europe location and travel approximately 50% of the time within the region.

  • Successful applicants must be able to pass a background check and meet requirements for individual logistic support.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidates with experience in higher education, military affairs, academic advising, recruitment, marketing, or customer service.

  • Knowledge of People Soft.

  • 3+ years of experience managing and supervising others in a higher education or customer service support environment.

WHO MAY APPLY:  Local candidates with ILS preferred. Applicant must qualify for ILS as described in USAREUR Regulation 600-700, Section III, 7-13. Criteria under which applicants qualify for ILS are: must serve the US Forces exclusively; are not stateless persons; are nationals of a NATO state, excluding the host nation; are not ordinarily resident in the host nation.

Hiring Rate:

$53,700.00

Additional Compensation:

Employees receive the applicable currency adjustment (CAX) subject to monthly DoD COLA Index for the work location, which is subject to change and fluctuation based on market indices.
