Reporting to the Senior Director, Registrar Operations, this critical role will lead a team of System Specialists and Analysts who manage core Registrar operations. These functions are technical in nature, and directly involve grades, academic standing, official enrollment reporting, maintaining the integrity of the student record, and building course and program information within our Student Information System (SIS). As all these main functions directly impact students, the Director is accountable for ensuring the accuracy of all these processes, and the integrity of the data these processes support. If issues are found, the Director acts swiftly to take corrective action, communicate with and engage all necessary stakeholders and leadership, and lead retrospectives of implicated business processes and technologies to develop and execute mitigation plans to prevent future issues. The Director will ensure that the Student Information System and supporting systems are structured to provide the best possible student and administrative experiences. The Director creates, manages and distributes data and metrics that help inform business decisions. The Director leads and participates in projects, workgroups and advisory boards as necessary. This role also drives change within people, processes and technology in order to move the University forward and will directly support the Registrar and AVP in both operational and strategic planning.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Provide direction and guidance for all team members. Will distribute workload and structure cross training so that the team members can support each other based on the volume flows within the academic calendar. Will have performance conversations as well as goal conversations to support staff development and career progression
- The Director monitors statistics from the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) and is accountable for ensuring that UMGC reporting statistics stay in the acceptable reporting percentage range. Responsible for the QA and accuracy of UMGC submissions to NSC, including fidelity to all NSC and NSLDS guidelines.
- Provides oversight for the provisioning of security for staff and faculty, responsible for ensuring that proper business processes are in place that allow for QA checks, and that proper approvals are secured for the application and removal of security
- Ensures that academic standing is run for all students accurately, efficiently and with transparency. Ensures that the proper communications are built and sent to students, and that student facing teams are notified before, during and after the runs are complete. Responsible for helping resolve any escalated academic standing concerns from students, staff, or faculty, and participates in the approval of exception requests.
Work directly with IT to help resolve any issues that are impacting ASQ/Academic Affairs Operations and help manage IT requests from across ASQ. Communicates IT project statuses, and any technology issues to all of ASQ, Academic Affairs or across the institution as necessary. This includes working closely with Europe, Asia to ensure business is conducted consistently across all three divisions.
Drives project work on an institutional level, and operational level by serving as a functional lead, project lead or Subject Matter Expert on Registrar modules/functions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
4 year college degree
5-7 years of experience working with adult students, and at Institutions with open enrollment practices. Demonstrated advanced competency in process analysis and evaluation, business process mapping, data analysis and systems thinking.
Must be fully proficient in multiple data and technology tools such as Excel, Tableau, PeopleSoft, and Salesforce.
Demonstrated competency in taking initiative, solutioning across stakeholder groups, and providing excellent follow-through when working on projects and daily mandates.
Ability to make decisions using criteria that require the incumbent to navigate, assimilate, understand, and apply policies, procedures, and practices from a variety of sources.
1 to 3 years of supervisory experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Masters or other post-graduate education
- 7-10 years of experience managing registrar operations in terms of National Student Clearinghouse reporting, Academic Standing and Grades a plus.
- The ability to articulate business needs to technical resources also a plus.
- Experience in project management and change management desired.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience
